Oct. 6, 2010 So I think the night is roughly the 5 or 6 maybe, all I know is that it is Wednesday evening. I was sitting here working on the computer and all of a sudden the power goes off. Well thank goodness for the battery. The power will now be out probably until morning. We are suppose to have our power all day Thursday through Saturday and then the rest of the week it is on from about 8pm until 8am and then on from 11-1 and then again from 3 to 5. The times are something random like that. So since most of my emails so far have revolved around some sadness here at GSF, I have a funny story to tell everyone. So let me start by telling you where I stay when I come for a visit. GSF has a guest house that is on the one end of the compound. It is set up as a duplex with a nice veranda looking out into the forest. There is the female side and the male side and then there are bathrooms that are in a separate building, but kind of attached through the veranda. There is also a men’s side and women’s side to the bathroom. So I am up here at the guest house all by myself, which I do not mind. The guards constantly come around with their bow and arrows to keep me safe. :) Anyway, but it does get quiet up here. So behind the guesthouse on the opposite side of the forest there are villagers who work some fields. I mean the fields are right on GSF property lines, as a matter of fact we are trying to purchase the land so we can feel a little bit more safe. So anyway, I have learned the hard way each time I come. There are just some nights that I am too stinkin tired to take a shower at night, so I decide I’ll take one in the morning. Well in the morning the water is FREEZING cold, at night I get a hot shower. So of course I know this and for some reason, I have to relearn it each time. So Sunday a week and a half ago, I noticed that I was missing a bar of brand new soap. So I looked in the trash cans thinking Justine, who works here, might have thrown it out. Never did find it, so I just figured apparently someone needed it more than me. So in the middle of the week, I noticed that my wash cloth was totally out of place. So I decided then that I was having a visitor. So two days ago on Monday I mentioned to one of the missionaries that I think I am sharing my bathroom with one of the village workers. Well there is a paddle lock on the door, but it doesn’t work, so we decided we may need to start locking it. So when I go out to the bathroom, I just double look around and make sure I don’t have any unwanted guests. When I told the missionaries about it, I was laughing cause I think it is funny. I mean there is no reason to get upset about it, besides we didn’t know for sure. I do know that it wasn’t Justine cause the soap went missing on the weekend and the wash cloth happened on a day she didn’t work. So when I came I got a pack of three razors from Wally World. So obviously I have been using the one razor, so last night I went to get a new razor, remember it was a pack of three!! So I look in the pack and there is only one left in the pack, so I just laugh to myself thinking, well I guess I am right. Here is the best part. So I go to get the razor out of the pack and apparently someone was sharing that with me!!! I am not going to lie, it was a little gross seeing that my razor had been used by someone around here. Haha So I guess I need to get a lock and start keeping my bathroom locked. Anyway, I got a kick out of it and so have the other missionaries, they are glad I am able to laugh about it. I am thinking how can you not? Anyway, things are going well here. On Friday, Kaylee, one of the short termers, and I are going to go to school with the teenagers to Nyenga. Then on Saturday we are putting on a purity conference for our teens, and then Sunday after church I am going to take the teenagers to a swimming resort for a couple hours and then we will go and have dinner together. So it will be a nice weekend, just busy. Please be praying for the kids, especially on Saturday, that they will have a full understanding of the purpose of the seminar. Thanks for all the prayers that you send this way. Debbie
