HE HAS RISEN

Today it is Easter Sunday and church begins at 11Am.  I don’t know what the plans are for today, but I do know that I am excited about the service today.  So I’ll fill you in on another email after I have experienced the service.  But this email is about our Easter egg hunt.

Yesterday Claudia (one of the missionaries) and I had an Easter egg hunt for the kids.  Friday we stuffed the eggs, which took forever.   But after seeing the kids faces, it was well forth the time.  We decided that we had to split up the kids, so the big kids didn’t stomp over the little kids.  We were going to start at 10, but it didn’t really happen that way.  I think we started around 11.  So we got the kids ages 9 and younger to come.  We hid the eggs around the missionaries’ houses.  There were not very many places to hide them, but then again some of the kids were 2 and 3.  We placed around 275 eggs for the younger kids around the yard, in the flowers, in the plants, and wherever we could find a place.  I was putting eggs in this little tree and it already had a nest in it.  So I looked for eggs, didn’t see any, so I put one of mine in there.  Junior who is an older boy was helping us and went to hide an egg over there saw the nest and well there were three little tiny white eggs in the nest.  OOPS.  So obviously we moved the egg that I had put in there.  We told the kids they could only find five eggs.  Otherwise we would have had a bunch of kids with one or two.  Consider this one big HAPPY family, so therefore we try to make it fair.  For those of you who have families you can understand us wanting to make it even.  Anyway, I have a bunch of pictures of the kids with their Easter eggs, so I’ll get those on the web site.

After we were done with the little kids, we needed to hand out back packs to the big kids.  Pretty much all of the kids needed book bags.  Claudia had gotten around 80 donated and then I included all the ones that people had donated for me to bring.  So instead of doing a Easter egg hunt with the big kids, we decided to just put their eggs in their bags.  We started with the big kids and worked out way down to the youngest kids who are going to school.  So I got tons of pictures of all the kids with their new back packs.  The kids loved them and thought it was pretty great.  So thank you to the people that gave the back packs to the kids.  It put a huge smile on their faces.

After passing out all the bags and getting the kids squared away it was late in the afternoon.  I think it was around 4pm.  So I went and hung out in the houses with the kids.  A couple of the older kids were playing the guitar and singing, so I hung out with them.  It was good to just sit with them and talk.

Anyway, I have written this at 8:30am, but for some reason I can’t get online, so I may not be able to send it until after church.  The power went off last night and I think it might have messed up my connection.  Oh well not much I can do about it.  The power sometimes will just go off.

I hope everybody has a wonderful Easter.
